During June 1982, 3102 headed an ARHS ACT Division train south to Bombala. It was the second ARHS trip to Bombala with "The Mouse" (see 3102-Bombala-81 ), and hence it was billed as "Bombala Revisited", a play on the TV series current at the time called "Brideshead Revisited".
It was also the second last time a steam loco visited Bombala (see 3102-Bombala-84 ): and I counted myself very fortunate to ride in the cab during the late night trip into Bombala. It was blowing a gale, absolutely freezing, but the sight of the headlight swathing through the clear chill night air, the smell of smoke and steam oil, and the somewhat erratic beat of the Mouse's exhaust was just body-numbing and mind-blowing!
