Subsequently (25 Dec 2000), Wayne Eade wrote to me saying:
Yes, I know it's Christmas, but what else do you do on Christmas Day? We (there are three of us) have been looking at your steam engines and we've noted that you're seeking information re. the location of 1301+3137 at what you think is Carlingford (image 3396). Well, we reckon that it's 4 road at Liverpool. My brother says it's a fact, but he's already had several VBs. The giveaway for me is Newbridge Road bridge in the background and the Georges River through the weeds. What do you reckon?
I reckon yer might be right. Now that you mention it, I recall that that trip did get to Liverpool at some stage. (It sure went to most parts of Sydney south of the harbour!) Thanks Wayne.
Subsequently (12 Jan 2005), Martin Hartley also wrote to say:
I can confirm to you that this is most definitely Liverpool Station, although a few things in that scene have changed somewhat (they've put up new fencing and other stuff), that scene is easily recognisable to me. How do I know this? Every monday afternoon/evening I pass by Liverpool twice on my way to band practice. That is most definitely the bridge at Liverpool and the Georges river down there in the bush somewhere. There are piers which used to carry a railway line to Moorebank at the army barracks, but now carry a walkway over the river.
Thanks, Martin. Now I think the matter is most definitely resolved!
