  • Description : Stewart writes:
The two Ravenglass stations are side by side - the real one having been turned into a pub despite trains still calling there. The glassed in area is the main bar/restaurant. The pub's not bad and has some interesting railway photographs and old Hornby models inside. The signal box is just to the left of the end of the platform.

  • Description : Stewart writes:
a modern train to add to the collection snapped this year in Newcastle upon Tyne station - I'll need some help from your correspondents for details on this, I think it might be a tilter. Pretty though isn't it? It's destination boards shows Bournemouth - an interesting cross country route possibly through Crewe Junction (?) It must take days! I love the old blackened sandstone of the buildings - very Scottish in feel.
Paul Fishwick wrote to add to this:
The train you have photographed is a Virgin Voyager. About 60% of them tilt - they are typically the 5 car ones. If you photographed it in Newcastle, it will probably operate to Bournemouth via York, Birmingham and Oxford.
